We stayed there for 5 nights, an we were suprised about what we got for a price like that. the best thing over there was the staff, very nice and very helpful, a typical turkish breakfast while being able to watch the bosporus and a location quite near to the main sights. we really enjoyed over there, thanks for nice holidays!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They arranged for us to visit a Turkish bath and gave excellent directions for other tourist sites. The room was very warm and clean. The bathroom was a little small but doable. The staircase is narrow and steep so, if you have a large suitcase, you will fnd it difficult to get up the them.

In February 2010 we've stayed 5 nights at Mavi Onur and we really enjoyed our stay there. Mavi Onur is great value for your money: The guesthouse is located near all main attractions like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Cisterne, Topkapi and the Grand Bazaar. Also public transport, good restaurants and shops are just a few blocs away. From the roof terrace of Mavi Onur you can see the Blue Mosque and the Marmaris sea, which is just accross the road. A good breakfast is even included in the price. The owner is very friendly and helpful! We certainly can recommend Mavi Onur to other visitors coming to Istanbul! Very nice and easy going hostel in a ceter of the Sultanhamet, 50m from Marmara sea. Terrace has a view at Marmara sea, also simple breakfast is served there. People can hang out and talk/drink on the terrace and use free WiFi internet. Room are small but clean but moisture can be a problem. Host will explain everything you ask him, and he is really friendly. Also he can arrange almost any trip/sightseeing you want.

Mavi Onur was a great place to stay at during our time in Istanbul. We even extended 4 extra days at the Guesthouse. The people running the guesthouse were incredibly warm and helpful. They gave us great directions around town and never lead us astray. All their recommendations were right on target and we felt like we got a true Istanbul experience, beyond what a normal tourist would have. Mavi Onur Guesthouse is more like your home away from home and is highly recommended by 3 Peace Corps Volunteers.

The rooms are big but that's all. It's not clean, the bed and the linen are to old and your breakfast is minimal. There are loads of other places in the historical center of istanbul that offer way better value for a comparable price

Hearty place, understanding warm-hearted host. You'll really feel what is true turkish hospitality. Nice terrace with view to the mosque and Bosphorus. Breakfast (unfortunately vegetarian). The owner/host doesn't speak English very well, but he is so cheerful and open - that there is no need in language to communicate. Here you are not a consumer - you are the guest. First we booked one night here only, bun then decided to stay here longer since its very welcome place. When we came 3 instead of two we even got a sufficient discount for the third person. At the same time I had to remind that partially I paid already as a deposit - be aware of that if you wish, but very likely you won't mind yourself to live something as tips, since you'll like the host indeed. Not that easy to find the place first time when you arrive, so better print a map in advance, at the same time you 'll easily find somebody to show you the road. Suuming up - if you wish to feel yourself not in the hostel, but as a guest in the home of your turkish friend please come - very good cultural experience and atmosphere (btw - free Internet in the lobby - I was able to use for few hours, no problem). To iimerse into Turkey it's very good place. Surely the most hearty hostel all over the world I have ever been.
